Windom Elementary School - Bus Safety
Ryan Rose

Busses will leave Little River each morning promptly at 7:40 a.m.   The busses are unable to wait on late students as it puts them behind schedule getting to Windom.  This in turn affects breakfast time and the start of our school day.  Students should plan to be at the commons area before 7:40 a.m., but NOT before 7:30 a.m.

For the safety of all students, parents and students MUST follow the guidelines listed below.

When crossing streets at Little River and Windom, please use the crosswalks.

If a crosswalk is not painted, students should cross at the end of the block.

Before and after school at Windom, students must use the crosswalk if the

vehicle picking them up is across the street.  Students may NOT cross the street in front of the busses or at other locations.

When dropping students off in the morning at Little River there are sometimes several cars lined up with students unloading all at once.  We have students going behind, in front of, and between busses.  Again, for safety reasons, parents should only allow students to unload when pulled up alongside, but in front of, the very first bus.  Students should then cross 10-12 feet in front of the bus.  As one car unloads and moves ahead, the next can pull up to the same location.

Students walking to and from school should utilize the sidewalks and avoid crossing the parking lot in front of the commons area.
