HOSA Spring Leadership Conference 2018:  This past Monday our Little River High School HOSA (Health Occupation Student Association) team left for Pittsburg, Kansas to compete in several different events at the Spring Leadership Conference. This was our first year getting to compete in the Leadership Conference and we had a great time. This club is led by Karen Gunther. Mrs. Gunther is teaching science classes and this is her first year with us here at LRHS. The competition was a great learning experience for the students.  They expanded horizons, they listened to guest speakers, attended a career fair and participated in skills based competitions. Little River walked away from our first competition with several medals.  Gunner Bower, Harley Grow , and Evan Johanning placed third in the Debate and Evan Johanning and Gunner Bower placed second in EMT; Jennifer Crotinger placing third in both Nursing Assistant and Job -Seeking Skills.   In addition, Mrs. Gunther was recognized as a New HOSA Chapter Advisor for 2018.  There were 18 schools represented at the competition with approximately 275 students from across the state present.  This year 10 LRSH students attended, with 5 missing due to sub-state basketball.  The HOSA convention organizers assured us they would take sub-state into consideration next year!  We would like to thank the BOE for supporting our HOSA activities.  -Jennifer Crotinger, Senior at LRHS
