Graduation Celebrations 2020

Graduation Information (please share):

Graduation information – Two opportunities to celebrate our 2020 Graduates!

July 18th is the new date set for our 2020 Commencement Ceremony at 3:00 p.m. It is our hope that on July 18th we can come together at the LRHS Gymnasium to formally celebrate our seniors’ commencement. We will be awarding diplomas to seniors at the July 18th ceremony.

Senior “Graduation Shower 2020” - Saturday, May 16th at 3:00 p.m.!

Though we will not be able to have a “traditional” ceremony in our LRHS gymnasium, we can still “socially distance” downtown and recognize our seniors! We are asking that graduates dress up in their cap and gown and venture to Main Street in Little River. Seniors and immediate family who are standing with their graduate downtown will need to park off of main street to allow a clear path. Graduates should locate their “Lamp Post” with their banner. Immediate family members are welcome to stand by them at their designated spot. (Parents, grandparents, siblings) Please remain at your designated Lamp Post only to ensure we are remaining an appropriate distance from one another.

The community or other guests you invite are welcome to get in their cars and line up on Oak Street facing east to begin our “Graduation Shower” (See map below). Guests in their cars will begin slowly driving, keeping the speed at 5 mph (we want this to last and give guests time for their shout outs from the car windows). Feel free to decorate car windows with special messages as well. In addition, guests driving by are welcome to throw candy to graduates (thus, the Graduation Shower concept), or you may hand out flowers to your special graduate, cards, gift cards, or even money through your car window. Guests driving in cars may circle around on Kansas Avenue and Harrison Street as often as they’d like. The "Graduation Shower" will be from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We feel this will also give our proud parents a photo opportunity with their graduate in their caps and gowns, and also allow them to celebrate together on the originally planned day. Dr. Herbst will be presenting two diplomas on this day to two seniors’ at their lamp posts as both of these graduates will not be able to attend our postponed ceremony slated for July 18th due to joining the military. The other diplomas will be saved for the July 18th ceremony. When the banners come down in order to display our Veterans’ banners for Memorial Day, you will be notified that you can pick up your senior banners at the District Office. They will be yours to keep. Additionally, we will be posting on our Little River Junior Senior High School Facebook page a presentation honoring our seniors on May 16th. Underneath that post, feel free to post any pictures you snap that day during the “Graduation Shower 2020”.
