Sub-State KSHSAA Safety Guidelines

Event Attendance

·      ATTENDANCE AT POSTSEASON EVENTS: limited to no more than 50% of the arena/facility capacity. Little River Gymnasium capacity is 1,100. I believe we can stay within the 550 if only teams/fans of teams playing are in attendance. VERY IMPORTANT, fans should not arrive until immediately prior to their team’s scheduled match time. Matches will start no earlier than the scheduled time. Once spectators are done watching participant/team or when they are done competing or eliminated from the event, spectators should leave the facility in a timely manner. This will take great cooperation and communication of all administration and schools competing at the Little River Sub-State. All help is appreciated with following this guideline so that we do not have to limit spectators wanting to support their teams. A bracket with match times will be posted Wednesday, Oct. 21 at kshsaa.org. We will have personnel in place to adhere to the expected KSHSAA attendance guidelines, and this could involve holding spectators outside prior to the start of matches if needed.

Masks/Social Distancing

·      All spectators will be required to wear a mask while in attendance at the event.

·      At least 6’ of social distancing is to be observed while in attendance. Family members may sit together in a pod but must wear a mask.

·      Participants may, but are not required to, wear a mask while competing or during warm-up.

·      When participants are done competing, they will wear a mask while seated on the bench and between matches.

·      It is the coach’s responsibility to enforce the wearing of masks by their players when not actively participating.

·      Tournament managers will monitor spectators. Spectators choosing not to wear a mask once admitted will be reminded to wear the mask. Those refusing will be asked to leave the event.

·      When eating or drinking, masks can be removed, however, masks cannot remain off until the entire beverage is consumed. It is to be worn when not drinking.

·      Please maintain 6’ social distancing at the concession stand area and when using the restrooms.
