After Azim’s Trip (A Follow Up) On February 10th Azim Bazarov left for Houston; it was his first stop on his day trip to Washington. Azim said that he thought it was really interesting how Washington was focused around “European architecture” and how drastically different it was from a small town in Kansas being more of an “official” city. People running around in suits and politicians were at every turn. He made the remark that, “It didn’t look like a typical American city.” He visited several different landmarks while in Washington such as presidential memorials, the White House, and the Smithsonian Museum, just to name a few. All in all Azim thought that Washington was “Pretty Awesome.” Azim also met with other students from the foreign exchange program along with a few diplomats. He said that he really enjoyed speaking with other students and adults about politics in both America and other countries. “It was really interesting to hear their opinions.” He mentioned that “Everyone was really nice and more than happy to answer questions.” He said that the difference between our cultures was very stark but it was interesting to see how diverse everyone on the trip was and how cultures mix and how it doesn’t matter who you are. -Zeke Zeller, Junior at LRHS

On Friday, February 16th, the Video Broadcasting and 21st Journalism classes went to Topeka to participate in Mass Media day at Washburn University. While there, the students learned about what the University had to offer and a small experience about how classes worked and what their programs were like. They received free lunch and got to see most of the campus. Even though they had to wake up at 5 a.m it was an enjoyable experience for all of them. -Gunner Bower-
